It’s Time to Use Your Voice

Dear Jesus

I am pruning you from the old patterns within your voice.  Here are some examples I will share with you, of what that looks like. It can be much deeper but it's your responsibility to pay attention and ask yourself. Did I use my voice correctly? Did I speak my truth?  Remember the times when you stayed quiet and took the insult. Without sharing your perspective in the situation.

Remember the time you were at a family gathering and you had questions but instead stayed quiet because you thought it wasn't important to ask you where thinking on their behalf, you were internalizing how they would feel. So instead you people please and say something in a form of agreement with them.

So you see, it's time to speak with assertiveness. Allowing yourself to trust your voice. Since you have been living in years of not using your voice correctly.  God gave you a voice so you could speak with confidence, and to learn to trust your voice.  Stop making yourself small.

You're not responsible for others, opinions, actions and emotions. Stop carrying that unnecessary weight on your shoulders.

If you speak what is on your mind in the moment of a conversation with someone such as a friend, family member, work acquaintances etc.  You will reduce the chance of feeling negative emotions such as  shame, guilt, anger, anxiety, depression and fear of rejection.

Remember that an emotion is built out of thoughts in your head so if you speak your truth, you won't beat yourself up in your head. That negative inner critic dialogue that surfaces almost 24/7. Remember no one talks more to you than yourself.

This also reduces the chance of your actions in the future to resemble bitterness, revenge, envy, jealousy, comparison, secret competition with the other person.

Learning to trust your vice, and living with a voice of assertiveness. It will take time, so give yourself grace and compassion in this journey of undoing. Showing up  with the voice God gave you, will take one action at a time.

Remember Jesus wasn't nice, He was kind, He resembled quite confidence  his voice had authority.  He is the model of the kind of voice we resemble already. You just need to speak in quiet confidence with authority that voice belongs to you.

Your voice will shake those who are used to stepping on you.

Let them walk away, it's time to trust your voice.

Your voice belongs in rooms.  Your voice matters.

 Amen
