Loving Through the Battle

Dear Jesus

I want to talk about something I realized as a wife. A woman who became a wife because she became a mother; we both chose to start a marriage together, a life with each other. One thing I didn't expect was to develop anxiety and depression in my marriage.  In the first 5 years, I have dealt with the battle of anxiety and depression.

In my marriage, I have so many times felt like a burden, as someone who is bringing her family down. As someone who, due to her not being able to overcome her struggles mentally. Her family isn't living life to its fullest potential.  I say all this because I realized last weekend, ahh, no one talks about this, about how it is to live with someone who suffers mentally. No one talks about the partner who is in the caretaker role. Whether they truly understand the partner who is suffering mentally.

Are they truly placing themselves in their shoes? Do they always react with addituted and then show compassion? Do they know how to support? Do they provide empathy, or is it sympathy?  Do they get frustrated with them? Do they force exposure therapy on them? “Just do it!”   “No, we aren't turning back!”

Ohhh  God, I  pray for every person who deals with a partner who is suffering mentally. May you keep them safe, may you help them. May you guide them, and may you restore them. May you also help the other partner, show up better for them. May they learn to support each other in this season. May both of them learn to put each other's shoes on first.  Before putting on their own, may we learn to love one another.
